Free Help for Safeguarding and Corporate Governance in Faith Communities
Faith-based groups and places of worship play a major role in the lives of many children, young and vulnerable people. This means safeguarding must be a key consideration in all faith settings. It is announced that the Michael Trust during it's investigatory report will also be offering limited FREE help and advice on how to approach safeguarding and corporate governance from within the beliefs, teachings and cultural context of faith communities. How to better engage with outside agencies.
At the discretion of the MT we may be willing to pay for limited expert training on Safeguarding with a national charity in the UK. The Co-founder has been involved in providing advice on corporate governance including safeguarding for a number of years. We can also provide template policies.
If you would like help or want to learn more please use the contact box and we will be in touch.
The MT has decided to carry out another report: Do the religious and faith communities have faith, confidence to engage the police and regulatory bodies?
It has been decided that the Michael Trust will monitor and become involved with the IICSA Inquiry. Our Co-founder has been contacted since December 2019 from a number of people from a variety of faiths including two from the Islamic faith, that showed concerns that the IICSA were looking to regulate religious groups and faith based communities, we had contact from those from the Jehovah's Witnesses faith especially concerned that they potentially were under attack as they felt they were at the Australian Inquiry.
We have an opportunity to contact all those on our contact list to see their views on Child Protection and also see how religious and faith based communities feel about the engagement if any they have with police and other regulatory bodies and how they are treated. You can read more on the above link. Because of COVID-19 this report has not yet started but you can still get in touch with us if you would like to take part.
As Hate Crime against religious communities are on the rise, the MT hopes to become a third party reporting service to anyone who has suffered a Hate Crime. More on this in a few days.
