How the internet changed our spiritual perception of the world

Who knew that when many switched on dial-up and engaged with the WWW in early 1990s would they realize the effects it would have on communities around the world. Many governments did quickly realize and so the censorship and filtration of content started by government actors. For most of us this new tool opened up a new world of opportunity not just in a persons material life but also self realization and spiritual and cultural awareness.

I remember the fist time a dialed up the connection to the internet and joined an online forum and was amazed to be able to talk to people from all over the world and exchange views.

For many religious communities the internet was seen as evil in the beginning to mid 1990's and many religious movements still do. Jehovah's Witnesses have been in Russia for over 126 years and their numbers have had peaks and troughs depending on the economic and political environment and the prejudice, and at times persecution that they have faced since 1891. So for the JW's it is a shame but no surprise that the latest religious prejudicial campaign by activists against the witnesses for over ten years has culminated in the latest restrictions of over 170,000 Jehovah's Witnesses that currently try to practice their faith in mostly all parts of Russia. Is the latest verdict going to stop them? NO, not in my opinion in fact they often grow when persecuted. ...........

Today the trust provides reliable non biased information and advice to selected individuals, government agencies, police and security services home and abroad. (OSINT, CYBINT, HUMINT)

The trust provides also Track II diplomacy and provides assistance when new religious movements are under scrutiny by public media or government actors. The trust has built up good communicative relationships with a number of new religious movements and closed groups over the years and provides help and advice when asked. "A person should not be judged by their faith but instead what they do with their hands." MT.

The MT concentration is mainly in the United Kingdom where there are currently around 500 estimated cults or sects, closed communities mostly happily coexisting and living peacefully with the many other established religious groups, new religious movements and those with no spiritual faith within the UK.

The purpose of the Michael Trust  to encourage the elimination of all forms of intolerance and discrimination based on religion and belief by upholding the Charter of the United Nations. Today is to bring people together from across the world to improve mutual respect between cultures and to support civil society working for a common future for tolerance and respect in matters relating to religion and belief with the emphasis on a persons right to health, quality of life and to ensure that the use of religion or belief is consistent with the Charter of the United Nations.
